I discovered that Luca was famous on Brac for standing up to the Germans in WWII. The Germans had entered town threatening to kill, when Luca stepped up and asked them why they were doing that. Even when they held a knife to her throat, she told them, 'you don't have to do this. Why are you doing this?' In shame, they left town.
