The most expensive exhibition so far in Cro!

(from website:

As of March 23rd, the Klovicevi Dvori Gallery will feature the largest exhibition of representative works by Pablo Picasso ever shown in this part of Europe!

The exhibition will consist of masterpieces from the Picasso Museum, 56 of Picasso’s paintings and sculptures, as well as around 40 photographs

Works will be presented chronologically, starting with a painting from 1895, when a fourteen year old Picasso painted “The Man with a Hat”.  (and ...)his last painting – a self-portrait, “Sunday”, which he completed not long before his death in 1971.

The Zagreb audience will also be drawn to the part of the exhibition dedicated to Pablo’s muse, Croatian Dora Maar, whose artistic and political views greatly influenced his life. Visitors will have the opportunity to see her famous portrait from 1937.

UPDATE: Workin' on the Ol' Truck

Well, I loved it but I couldn't pull it through. So I went out and bought myself a new (used) one. Adieu, friend!

Chaz Writes

Your Sister Ann

Your Sister Ann was really
Generous to me back in the Valley
And I think I secretly loved
Her Once
But for me it was always you
Who made me want to be loved

A1 Welding: Vanished Dreams

I am saddened.  Thirty-five years ago when we first moved here, there was this abandoned building on the corner of the highway near our house, with an "A1 Welding" sign out front of it.  Mysterious and strangely inviting.  Then for a few years, it became a second hand store where Charles and I would browse for art materials or studio furniture that we would cart back to my place or over to his place on Cain's Lake.  After that, it was a video rental store for several years.  We rented many a video for the kids there.  Later it began selling tropical birds too.  But for most of the past decade it has remained empty.  Its interior dark and dusty and littered with old wooden shelves and wire bird cages.  Almost every time I'd drive past, I'd think "I oughta try and rent that for a studio in the winter."  Throughout the years, it never changed appearance . . . always unpainted and seemingly ready to collapse.

Well, a week or two ago it did.
