I was a transfer student to a high school in the Okanogan and the locals had a quaint custom of going to the local lakes early on the morning of, let's see... i think they called it the day of the opening, and throwing out their fishing lines, drinking cheap beer and smoking lousy cigarettes. Great fun actually and it was all over by noon and we could go back to town and have time for lunch and to read the London Economic Times.

i have actually spent a few days fishing at lake perrign (sp?)in my youth fishing... looks a bit different covered with ice.
