Julia Writes: Dear Mr. Wadsworth

Dear Mr. Wadsworth (Ronald, Hopi Guide extraordinaire) -
We had an incredibly memorable time during our very short visit to the Hopi reservation and that is in great part because of your expert guide abilities. Your stories and the land left deep impressions with us that will last a long time. I even had a vivid dream that night, mostly about being with groups of people. I interpret that as being due to the unimaginably strong ties in the Hopi community that I felt . . .

Thank you so much for your help.
Julia (and John) Hurd

Kyra Writes from Southern California

On our first flight from Seattle to San Francisco. Eason loved the flight but was very nervous before hand. Charlotte was squirming on the first flight but fell asleep on the second. We're on our way to Disneyland right now almost there.

Jere has passed away, an era of the unique plumber has ended with a stroke, he sat down to the bad, felt a bit dizzy, and died! And he was so afraid of dieing, and such an easy way to go!
I've helped to dress him up last night, along with another neighbour and his son, so we cracked a few jokes as he would appreciated it, I would think so.

P.S.

St.Martin's Day is today, the time to taste a new vine. Custom as they say St.Martin was late for a meeting of some sort because he had a few glasses of vine more than needed!
But we tried ours a two weeks earlier, and I can tell you it's a good and strong vine, hope will preserve some for the time you come over!
230 litres.

Elfuego Baca

Elfuego Baca held off 80 drunken cowboys for 36 hours.  Over 4000 rounds of ammunition was spent.  He said he did it to show there was one Mexican who was not afraid of the cowboys from Texas.  Gawd, I loved that Disney two part special on Elfuego from the late 50s or early 69s!!!!  Anyone else remember that.  Old black and white, I think.  Anyway, that was in Reserve, where the cowboys from Texas in my family came in the late 1880's.

Salt River Canyon and on to Reserve!

Yesterday, a day in Phoenix:   Heard Native American museum,  Phoenix Art Museum,  auto wreck ( Julia and I were riding in car of Julias friend) -- car totaled,  all ok -- then a two hour drive to Globe Az.  Today,  the fantastic Salt River Canyon, where the San Carlos Apache Reservation meets the White Mountain Apache Reservation (and a surprising find if petroglyohs) and on to Reserve, New Mexico, where my great grandmother lived as new born baby.  Talk about at the end of the World: those Wilsons wanted to get out of Texas bad!

Above Palm Springs

Saturday CA to AZ

Yes,  we are in Southern California.   Spent a few days in the sun enjoying the hospitality of Tom and Denise at their lovely home in Palm Desert.  Managed a trip up the Palm Springs tramway to a five mile hike through pine and rock  (and snow! ) at 8000 foot altitude. Today we drive for 5 hours to Arizona to visit Julia's brother in Apache Junction for a few days.
