Highland Games

Look at that log this guy is carrying!  Gonna give it an end-over-end toss,
if he is lucky and doesn't lose it first.

The drummers give it a flourish.

You try to throw a 20 lb. hay bale over a 26 foot high bar with a pitch fork.

Highland dance competition.  Keep those knees at a 45 degree angle!

Julia, Eason and I attend the annual Celtic Highland Games yesterday.
I loved the bagpipes and drums. The competitive sports harkened back
to a fighting and farming tradition: throwing weights, throwing logs,
throwing hay bales, and and throwing hammers. (Hurt my back just to watch.)
