Mr. Big Shot Says: DANGER in the Sticks

What many people don’t understand about life in rural America is how dangerous it is for kid’s growing up. As a young teenager you are thrust into the working life of adults either because of the need for manpower or because you are available. There are many times when you are sent to work as a kid and the danger of that work has not been completely thought through. And then there are your relatives who are trying to make a man out of you. . . .

i dont think you are quite finished with your story although it is building up very nicely . . . can you please take us to the other side of the commentary? you know, the flip side we can't see . . . ? where it wants to go anyway?

thanks for the comments. all of these stories are in a first draft state. i have been writing them in succession to get out a picture of my "coming of age" in Omak. I am writing the final story as we speak called High School and then I will go back and repair all of the problems in each story.

If you wish please let me know what the other side of the commentary means? the point of view of the adults? I would appreciate your further advice on this and other stories.

well, any critique I offer will be woefully shy of the caliber of your writings . . . but what i meant was to leave space for the reader to engage - you know, like a question or two hidden in the text - that we will feel and respond to by invitation.
