Atelier 2

Oh yeah, and work on the studio roof......

Atelier

In the studio, now and then, between bat exclusion, gutter work,  and the overall demands of living at this time.  Thinking of the Jewelbox.  Everything breathes.

Bat work

Climbing around the house, plugging every little hole I can find!  "If you can stick a pencil in, a bat can get in!"

Oyster Dome

Spur of the moment,  Julia and I hike the 5+ mile loop to the top of Oyster Dome.  The trail had been improved but was still a grueling uphill slog.  But ah the beauty!  Still we were very glad when were made it back to my truck 4 1/2 hours later.

Smith Vallee

Julia and Shannon, bottom right.

Julia and Shannon, my sister here from Michigan for a short visit, attend a talk by artist R. Allen Jensen,  Julia's old art professor, at the Smith Vallee gallery.  Jensen's exhibit there was called "Bob's boats," fantastical, imaginative creations, sculpture and drawing.

Eliot and Eason in the North Cascades

Eliot and Eason take a day off for a father- son hike into the North
Cascades. Eliot said the hike up was pretty challenging. Eason
seconded that ("0h, yeah!") and said that they had some trouble hanging
their bear- bag of food. And that it got so cold at night that he had
to crawl into Eliot's sleeping bag. And that they saw marmots. All of
which spells A-D-V-E-N-T-U-R-E!

Skagit Delta

John and Lori take Julia and me down the Skagit Delta on their boat yesterday to escape the heat.  Beautiful waterways, and with low tide, thousands of acres of sandy beach with no one near.  Oh, and a cooling breeze.

Charles at Cain's Lake

C and M are back from Michigan, still involved in selling their house back there and getting their possessions shipped, but taking a small break in their cabin nearby.  For Charles that means sunning, swimming, and painting.

Fir Island, Haying at Sunset

Lori shares a photo of the old tractor from the family farm still putting in the hours under a wild sunset.

Ladder

The boys look industrious installing a new ladder on Charles's dock, but it was Melanie in the water, holding the crescent wrench under the dock who brought it home.

Midweek camping

Our campsite in the woods -- best site in the park!

Walkin' the log . . .

Always Eason's favorite activity . . .

Tidal pool crab hunting.  There were billions!
Eason teamed up with a couple of other children for the hunt.

At the Antique tractor show.  This one announces that it runs on all grades of Kerosene.

This lucky guy (Eason said) was driving his tractor round and round the exhibition.

John Deere at the tractor pull. He didn't win.

Eason and I camp out at Birch Bay State Park, hunting crabs and toasting marshmallows,  then catch an antique tractor show over in Lynden, complete with tractor pull competition.  There were hundreds of tractors, steam powered, kerosene powered, gas powered, many over 100 years old.
