Chaz Produces on Vacation

Charles left behind a new painting that I mischievously call "Big Orange."   (Seems Melanie told him there was too much orange.  Dakota Art, on the other hand, told him Cadmium Orange was hip.)

Lori Writes: Update

The fishing trip was great!  Still need to catch up! Got 24 25+lb, Ling cod, 16 big yellow eye, 14 kings,

and a couple silvers! Lots of fish! Even had a few sea lions thinking about stealing our fish a couple
times when they were on. That was weird they are about the size of the dang boat! All the fish
is down at Sylvana meats now getting packed up. Should eat good this winter!

is our future tractor driver! I can see it already!

We may have a real good line on buying a baler then we would be totally self-sufficient on our
hay business!

We dumped the crab pots for the first time last night so hopefully we get some crab!

Gotta get together for dinner . . .

Just Flew in and Back in His Studio

Slavko: Update from Solin / Milna

Hi John, after some time of work and idleness in Solin. We just came back, and enjoy the hot weather in Milna, and buying the fish, the fish, every morning on riva, since so eager to have some fish after a two fishless months!!!

Met Almir last night on riva (with new girlfriend), he's sending greetings!

As you can see from photos, work is going along, waiting for the tiles to arrive, so will spend a week here and going back again. These two places are so close to each other, but so different in living style that's unparalleled. Hope to see you in September . . .

Olive oil from Brac set to conquer Europe

On the Dalmatian island of Brac, in cooperation with the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, extensive research and inventory of indigenous varieties of olives has begun. The purpose of the project is to create a basis for branding varietal extra virgin olive oil which can conquer the European market.

The olives need to be of high quality with a distinctive taste and research has already begun on the eastern side of the island, where a rare variety of buhavica is grown, buhavica are considered to be authentic Brac olives, reports daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.

Brac has more than half a million cultivated trees and almost still unrivaled as the most developed olive grwoing region in Croatia. Brac has Venice to thank for their olive industry. The Venice senate in 1565 made the decision to plant olive trees in all neglected areas on the island. There were fines for those who damaged the plantations and in the case of repeated offending, expolsion from the island for 10 years.

Lori Writes: Blue flowers and more

Love these blue flowers (ed: in our memorial garden)!  They look so nice. They close up every night real tight and then open each day. The lavender and maple are doing really well. Now I just have to get time to put out some beauty bark.  With only one place to take care of now I already felt a little lost with not as many horses to ride and care for today.  It is weird!  I may actually have some free time once I get in the swing of it!
